Blending with Nature and Embracing Local Values
Blending with Nature and Embracing Local Values
This holiday house, located near Tanunda in the Barossa Valley, is designed for an international client seeking a retreat that reflects local values and harmonizes with the natural surroundings. The design embodies the principle of “touching the earth lightly,” featuring a stilted structure and low-maintenance materials like corrugated steel to minimize environmental impact.
Since the house is intended for use during Australia’s summer, the design prioritizes natural ventilation and passive cooling through thoughtful orientation, material selection, and form.
This project, currently in the concept and proposal phase, is part of my work experience at a local architecture office. My involvement includes contributing to the concept design and preparing proposal documents for the client.
